The three lights indicate if the circuit is OK or if various trouble conditions exist. If the junction box is not wire correctly you could damage your RV appliances and electrical system. There is also a version that tests GFI outlets for proper function. AC test probeThe test probe tests a circuit for the presense of 120 VAC or 240 VAC. A 120 VAC circuit improperly wired for 240 VAC will destroy your RV electrical system and appliances. A quick test with this probe before other tests will prevent serious and expensive damage. AC meterThe AC meter is used to monitor AC. It is plugged into the junction box after all other tests have been passed. If the AC is in the green zone you can then plug the meter into a handy outlet inside the RV to continously monitor AC. Test leadsTest leads for the DVM Second rowGFI adopterWhen there is doubt about if a circuit is GFI protested, use this adopter if you will be near water or damp earth. Digital Volt Meter (DVM)Handy for all sorts of measurements. Its small size makes it easy to carry. The AC and DC range will check voltages on 120 VAC and 12 VDC systems. Resistance measurements test for continuity. The 12 VDC range will also test battery state of charge. Wire strippersWhat ever you do get a good set of wire strippers. When stripping insulation you do not want to nick the wire. Those nicks provide a handy place for corrosion to start and weaken the wire. A good set of wire strippers will have notches for various wire sizes. They are cheap enough that then the are worn they can be replaced easily. HydrometerFor those with 6 volt batteries, it is necessary to test the cells occasionaly. This small plastic hydrometer is easy to carry and allows a quick test. DC test probeThe DC test probe has a sharp point to get in behind connectors to test for DC. Bottom rowCurrent probeTHe jaws of a current probe clip around the wire. AC curents can be neasured to test for loads. CrimpersLike strippers, you should have a good set of crimpers. A solid crimp joint will wistand vibration and reduce corrosion.
