The base is first. My bench will be 2 ft by 6 ft with a 6 in. tool well in the back. Distance from the floor to the top will be 36 in.The height was chosen to match my table saw so the bench may also be used an in feed or out feed table. You will need to adjust sizes for your needs.
I used Douglas Fir, oak, and Cherry but you can use just about anything that can be had locally.
